Welcome to 3H Alliance

We are a grassroots Indigenous women’s organization founded in 2021 by a team of Indigenous Women Human Rights Defenders from the Batwa, Benet, and Basongora communities of Uganda.

We started small, just a handful of women, meeting under trees and in village homes, standing together in our own communities. From those humble beginnings, we have grown steadily extending our support to Indigenous and vulnerable women across different communities throughout Uganda. For too long, Indigenous women and their families have been pushed to the edges, our voices ignored, our ancestral lands taken and our rights unprotected. We face double discrimination because we are Indigenous, and we are women. We face gender-based violence, environmental destruction, a changing climate, and digital exclusion, and we are often left out of decisions that shape our lives including taking on leadership roles. We are changing that. We stand for justice in all its forms by advocating for our rights, our lands, our safety and our healing. We build from the ground up, Batwa, Benet, Basongora as one.

Mission of 3H Alliance

To amplify the voices of all Indigenous and vulnerable women, defend our ancestral lands from loss and criminalization, prevent and respond to gender-based violence, advance environmental and climate justice, uphold our rights under UNDRIP, and ensure safety, healing, and dignity for every Indigenous woman and girl in Uganda.

What 3H Stands For

Her Voice: As Indigenous women, we lead, speak, and decide. We claim our place at every table. No one speaks for us except us

Her Land: Our forests, mountains, and plains are not property, they are our life, our heritage, our future. We defend them as guardians.

Her Rights: This stands for our dignity, safety, equality, and justice. Free from violence. Protected from criminalization. Included in every space. Upholding our rights under UNDRIP the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Our Objectives

1. Strengthen Indigenous women’s leadership so we influence decisions in villages, districts, and national forums
2. To protect land defenders, prevent criminalization, support those targeted for standing for our territories
3. To prevent and respond to gender-based violence so every woman lives safe, respected, and free from fear

5. To Uphold UNDRIP and work toward full recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ rights in Ugandan law and practice
6. To build healing justice, safe spaces, collective care, and support for women carrying trauma
7. To secure digital dignity and safety for Indigenous women ensuring we are fully connected, equipped with essential skills, and protected from harm online.
8. To foster unity and inclusion for indigenous groups and extend support to other vulnerable women’s groups

Our Core Values

• 2. We are accessible: We are here for all women whatever their story and we can appreciate the most complex of challenges. We celebrate diversity in every context, and are committed to helping women achieve their potential, no matter what their background or goals.
• 3. Grounded in UNDRIP Principles. our work is guided by the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the international standard that affirms our inherent rights to land, dignity, and self-determination.
• 4. Defender Protection. we stand with those who risk everything to protect our communities.
• 5. We are committed to promote gender equality and women empowerment: We work to address any barriers that prevent full participation of women in the public and political life. We implement actions that fosters safety and security of Woman Human rights defenders.
• 6. Healing & Care: True justice does not only fight for rights it restores people too. We stand for dignity that includes our full well-being: body, mind, and spirit. We know that defending our lands and communities leaves deep marks fear, grief, exhaustion, and pain. So we create safe spaces where women can rest, share, heal, and renew together. We practice collective care because no one should carry the weight alone. We walk beside those who have been harmed listening, believing, and supporting them to wholeness. We do not move forward and leave anyone wounded behind; we rise together, whole and strong.
• 7. We are creative: We continually evaluate and improve our own practices to respond to women’s needs. Whether we are tackling complex issues or more common universal ones, we employ innovation and imagination. If there is no obvious existing solution, we work and think creatively to find a new one.
• 8. We are committed: We work with marginalized women and girls we work to improve their lives, alleviate their suffering and develop a vision for change that will make a meaningful difference in their lives.
• 9. Solidarity & Growth: We are three distinct peoples Batwa, Benet, and Basongora each with our own heritage, stories, and struggles. Yet we stand as one. We do not compete; we lift each other up. We do not divide; we stand side by side, stronger together than any of us could be alone. We started small a handful of brave women from our own villages and we have grown steadily, rooted in trust and sisterhood. As we expand, we carry our same heart forward: serving our own communities first, then reaching wider to walk with all Indigenous and vulnerable women across Uganda. We are united, we are unbroken, and we keep growing not for power or praise, but so that no woman is left standing alone.
• 10. Digital Safety: We embrace digital tools to connect, learn, speak, and organize, but never at the cost of our safety. We equip Indigenous women with skills to use phones and the internet confidently, while teaching practical protection guarding our privacy, our data, and our communities from online threats, harassment, surveillance, or harm. For us, technology is a servant, never a danger: it amplifies our voices without exposing us to risk. Every woman has the right to be visible online without becoming vulnerable.
• 11. Transparent & Accountable: We hold ourselves answerable first to the Indigenous women and communities we serve, then to every partner, donor, and ally who stands with us. Every resource entrusted to us funds, time, support is directed where it matters most: to the frontlines, to the safe spaces, to the defenders, and to the families. We track our progress honestly, share our successes and our challenges openly, and report clearly and promptly. No hidden costs, no distant overheads, no excuses: we show you exactly what we achieved, who it helped, and how every contribution made a real difference.
